Abstract

Let D, T denote the unit disc and unit circle, respectively, in the complex plane C, with center 0. If S is an open subset of T, then let A(S) denote the set of complex-valued functions defined on the union of D with S, that are analytic in D, and continuous and bounded on the union of D and S. Then A(S) is a ring with pointwise addition and multiplication. We prove that if S is not empty, then the ring A(S) is not coherent.
