Abstract

Recently, Antoulas and Sorensen have proposed a new scheme for passivity-preserving model reduction based on rational positive-real interpolation, and effective numerical algorithms implementing it. We show that their approach can also be looked at from an angle of the theory of dissipative systems. From our standpoint the results of Antoulas and Sorensen can be interpreted as a special case of a general method for model reduction by modeling stationary trajectories, which aims at obtaining a reduced-order model which reproduces certain special trajectories of the original system.
