Abstract

In the assessment of the social function of buildings and urban layouts, the understanding of the pedestrian behavior in the crowd is indispensable for evaluating the safety of the social infrastructures. In this paper, we provide a simple model for the path planning of pedestrians from the field data and, based on the MLD (mixed logical dynamical) system approach, a simulation model of the crowd is constructed. Typical phenomena in the evacuation dynamics are illustrated with the proposed simulation model.
