Abstract

The unconstrained rational interpolation problem is considered. We construct a realization of an interpolant by solving two Sylvester equations. We show that this result is a generalization of a procedure used in passive model reduction. The procedure is applicable to both SISO realization and MIMO realization with full data. We then show a slightly weaker result for the case of MIMO realization with tangential data.
