Abstract

This paper considers design of Hilbert transform pairs of wavelet bases of two 2-band perfect reconstruction filter banks. We first review Hilbert transform pair conditions on scaling filters. We then formulate the problem of designing scaling filters of a dual filter bank for a given filter bank as a sampled-data H-infinity optimization problem. The problem is then converted into an equivalent discrete-time H-infinity control problem, which is solved using linear matrix inequality optimization approach. Design examples are presented.
