Abstract

The problem is treated of constructing for a linear positive system an observer which is both a positive system and globally asymptotically stable. The concept of observability of a linear positive system is defined. A characterization is provided which differs from that based on graph theory. An algorithm for the construction of a positive linear observer is provided for particular cases and it is proven that the dynamical system constructed is indeed a linear positive observer.
