Abstract

Null controllability with vanishing energy (NCVE)is a property of linear systems that any state can be steered to the origin with arbitrarily small L2-norm of the control input. In this paer we consider linear periodic systems generated by evolution operators and give necessary and sufficient conditions for NCVE. We give a first conditon in terms of a homogeneous Riccati differential equation as in the time-invariant case. Using a discrete-time system obtained from the system, we then give a second condition in terms of the spectrum of the evolution operator. We also examine sufficient conditions fro exact controllability with vanishing energy.
