Abstract

Continuing the research initiated in M. Pavon, J. Math. Physics, vol. 40 (1999), 5565-5577, we seek to model the wave function collapse within Nelson's stochastic mechanics through a variational mechanism. The stochastic model after a position measurement has been performed is associated to a solution of another Schroedinger equation whose potential function accounts for the interaction of the microscopic system with the measuring apparatus.
