Abstract

In this paper we consider a simple nonlinear discrete time system described by the "square root equation" x2(k+1)=x(k)+θ, where parameter θ is a complex number. We study the behaviour of the trajectories depending upon parameter θ. It turns out that not only limit cycles of various periods can arise, but also strange trajectories such as "streamers" or "confetti".
