Abstract

This paper proposes a change-of-variables approach to synthesis of output feedback controllers for descriptor systems. The results are based on a new LMI proposed recently that gives a necessary and sufficient condition for dissipativity of descriptor systems without depending on the choice of the realization of the plant. This LMI for analysis has structure that has not been considered before in the context of synthesis through linearizing change-of-variables. This paper provides a new technique to derive a linearized matrix inequality for synthesis.
